I am required to live through hell for the next 3-5 weeks, whilst the council rewire my house. I will enjoy no electric and the building contractors have advise me to move out/live with a friend during this time, because i own small children.

Will i be able to get hold of compensation because of this.

I can't see anything surrounded by that Act that would entitle you to compensation. Presumably you are not the owner of the house, so section 2(2)(a) excludes you. I'm not convinced that rewiring your house would crash down under the Act anyway.

I'm not sure, but I would conjure up that you would at least be entitled to rational expenses incurred while living elsewhere, especially as the contractors have advise you to do so. Speak to your local Citizens Advice Bureau who should be able to push for you further.
